| Customer Reviews: Great quality. February 25, 2009 Mengi Triggs (Houma, La United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Outstanding quality pestle and mortar. Solid and heavy. About the size of a large teacup. Beautifully polished on the outside with ample texture on inner surface to prevent sliding of ingredients. Just wonderful!
OUTSTANDING!!! September 18, 2009 R. Racca (C/S, CO) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have owned numerous types of mortars & pestels and out of wooden, soapstone, porcelain, & brass this outshines them BY FAR!!! All of the aforementioned types have their downsides, from highly breakable, to absorbing smells & stains, to ineffective. I have tried nearly everything in this Fresco Granite mortar & pestle & I have never been happier. I will never purchase another mortar & pestle again...unless I want 2 of the same kind that is. :)
Beautiful & Functional January 5, 2010 Wicked Photo Girl (Florida) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When it arrived I was impressed by how heavy and beautiful the mortar and pestle were. Originally, I had planned, when not in use, to place them away in a cabinet somewhere but they were nice enough now they sit in my counter top. I used them with herbs and spices among other things and I have been nothing but impressed with how well it works and cleans out. It's been a wonderful additional to my kitchen.
I love it! June 26, 2010 Dawn (Colleyville, Tx) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great little mortar and pestle. Granted, I haven't done much with it yet, but I love the style, and the way it is made. The first thing I tried was dry rice. I immediately noticed that this mortar and pestle fits very well in my hands, making it comfortable to hold, and easier to grind with. It took some effort to grind that rice, but from what I read, the mortar and pestle will get better with seasoning.
I also tried wet rice, and again, I was pleased with the results. I did notice that there was a little bit of dirtying (the color of the mortar and pestle) of the rice, but by the third time I used it to grind, the rice came out clean.
I like that more than just the tip of the pestle is a rough surface, and that the entire inside of the mortar is also rough. The outside has a slight sheen, and even a little sparkle to it.
I chose granite because it is definately hard, strong, and less porous than some other materials that these are made out of. I chose a darker color due to research. There are some beautiful pale marble mortar and pestles available out there, but uppon reading about them, you must avoid putting acidic or heavily pigmented foods in them. The marble is suceptible to any acidic foods, and readily takes on colors of other objects (ie-spices). I do not know if granite is better for acidic foods or not, but with the dark color, at least if it does take on the colors of the things you put in it, it won't be so noticable. yay. I like this one :)
great mortar and pestle July 29, 2010 Olivia Alley (WILLITS, CA, US) Heavy, so easy to grind things with. Only complaint is the edge was chipped when I got it, as one other review mentioned.
