Product Description
Cut vegetables and fruits into noodles, or curly, paper-thin ribbons with this inexpensive yet robust slicer. We recommend the World Cuisine brand over others because it costs about half or less of the price of similar models, makes nicer noodles, is easy to use and clean, and can slice fairly large quantities quickly, and is quite sturdy. The popular Joyce Chen type slicers can only process small pieces of vegetables at a time, requiring you to cut them up into small pieces, they are slow, and they make very fine, limp, noodles. When spiralizing wet veggies like cucumbers, the Joyce Chen types will generate a lot of juice with the noodles, making them wet and limp. The blades on those slicers also rust and are poorly made. More expensive slicers such as those from Benriner are good but cost twice as much or more, are not quite as easy to use, don't grip counters as well, and the noodles made are not quite as nicely formed. They can make 3 noodle widths to the World Cuisine's 2 widths (medium and large) but we find we never use the finer noodle blade with the Benriner anyway. By placing the vegetable or fruit on the prongs of the crank wheel and turning the crank while pushing the base toward the vertical julienne blade, continuous spiral noodles or curled julienne strips are created. The slicer has suction cup feet for a good grip on most surfaces, better than other slicers. The slicer is pretty tough, more robust feeling than the Benriner and Joyce Chen slicers. It is made of high impact plastic with no-rust stainless steel blades, and comes with easy to follow instructions. Unused blades store in the base.

5 out of 5 stars Surprise- quality slicer   August 27, 2008

I wanted a spiral slicer for raw foods, but I didn't want to put out the money for the expensive japan ones, since I am just getting into raw foods. The Joyce Chan saladacco just looked to cheap and limited on the amount of food it could do, so I went with the World Cuisine. I thought it would be compared to the crappy one walmart sells, but was I surprised. It actually is solidly built for being plastic, the 3 different blades are easy to switch out, and it works great on all the raw food I put through it, which has been a lot of vegetables lately. It does leave a little core from where the food spins on the blades, but I just take the little core and put it in with the sliced vegs. I love how zucchini strands come out for raw pasta and how I can get creative with the three different blades, kinda fun. I paid about $40 for this and worth every penny, oh yea, also very easy to clean.

I've wanted this little tool for a while and I am so glad I finally got it. Being in a 70% raw diet I get tired of the same old salads and veggies. This little tool brings spark to everything. It also makes my life a breeze when making raw veggie lasagna. Make sure to get the 3 blades one!

I did a lot of research before buying this great "gadget" and I am thrilled with it! Easy to use and clean, the children I work with (and I) had a ball making raw "spaghetti" out of zucchini and squash. Can't wait to try the other blades. On a 100% raw diet this is a necessity.

Hi, have been following a living foods lifestyle while in med school studying natural medicine(ND). Had a different spiralizer previously and this is WAY BETTER!! I love it!! Prepared food for some non-foodies and this stole the show. Everyone was mesmerized by the zuchinni noddles and how easy/fast it is to use! Feel it is essential. It supports maintaining my raw food lifestyle enthusiasm and discoveries. ~Dr in-Training~
